The LTC 28601 is the ONLY commercially available plate made by a major manufacturer that meets US military XSAPI specs.
This means this plate can defeat multiple hits of 7.62x51mm M993 Black Tip Tungsten Core Armor Piercing, as well as 5.56x45mm M995 Black Tip Tungsten Core Armor Piercing rounds.
We can say with confidence that this plate has the best performance of any commercially available plate and will defeat any and all armor piercing threats under .50 BMG.
If you are looking for a high end plate that gives the most protection possible, the LTC 28601 is the right option for you.
Level 4 is rated for .30-06 M2 AP steel core threats, this goes far beyond that, so this is one of the incredibly rare exceptions where we may call this a "4+" plate.
The LTC 28601 is comprised of a high end Silicon Carbide Ceramic core supported by a lightweight Dyneema HB212 backer
The ceramic and polyethelene in the LTC 28601 are fused in a proprietary autoclave process resulting in a plate with unmatched ballistic performance.
The autoclave fusion manufacturing in this plate results in less separation and delamination of the various components of the plates when struck, allowing for this plate to be hit more times, with less backface deformation.
Leading Technology Composites is the current manufacturer for US SOCOM SPEAR plates, the LTC 28601 is the closest you can get to military XSAPI plates on the civilian market. Compare at $2000 MSRP per plate, no longer for sale anywhere else.
